The Resurrection
28:1-8 pp —
Mark
16:1-8;
Luke 24:1-10
Mt 28:1 After the
Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week
(Sunday),
Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look
at the tomb.
Mt 28:2 There was a violent
earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down
from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back
the stone and sat on it.
Mt 28:3 His appearance was
like lightning, and his clothes were white as
snow.
Mt 28:4 The guards were so
afraid of him that they shook and became like
dead men.
Mt 28:5 The angel said to the
women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you
are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.
Mt 28:6 He is not here; he
has risen, just as he said. Come and see the
place where he lay.
Mt 28:7 Then go quickly and
tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead
and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There
you will see him.’ Now I have told you."
Mt 28:8 So the women hurried
away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy,
and ran to tell his disciples.
Mt 28:9 Suddenly Jesus met
them."Greetings,"
he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and
worshiped him.
Mt 28:10 Then Jesus said to
them, "Do not be afraid.
Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there
they will see me."

NOTE:
In observance of the Sabbath ordered by
God as a command to be observed by all His
Children (to this day), Jesus had to die on the
6th day of the week (Friday) to fulfill what was
prophesied and is recorded in the written Word.
Subsequently Jesus had to rest on the seventh
day of the week, Saturday to observe the
Sabbath. Not one even attempted to visit His
grave. Jesus rose on the first day of the week
following (which was the next day), meaning
Monday. As a result, according to God's Word we
are therefore celebrating the Resurrection this
Sunday, the first day of the week as it is
written in the Word (see verse 1).
